A Day Trip to Waddesdon Manor from Oxford
Waddesdon is only 35 minutes from Oxford by car. Here is a relaxed itinerary that combines the manor with lunch and a pub stop on the way home.
From Oxford, Waddesdon is a comfortable half-day trip — but treat it as a full day and you get much more from it. Here is how we usually plan it.
The route
Take the A34 north, join the M40 at Junction 9, come off at Junction 9 for Bicester and follow the A41 east through Waddesdon village. Around 35 minutes door to door.
A sample day
- 10:30 — leave Oxford; arrive Waddesdon 11:15
- 11:30 — house entry (book the earliest slot)
- 13:00 — lunch in the Manor Restaurant, stables
- 14:30 — parterre, aviary and Sundial Garden
- 16:00 — coffee at the Summer House Café
- 17:00 — leave; back in Oxford by 17:45
